Lil Wayne, Asake And Rema Billed As Headliners For Afro Nation Detroit 2024

The Afro Nation Detroit 2024, which is scheduled for August 17 and 18, at Bedrock’s Douglass Site, will feature US rapper Lil Wayne as headliners alongside Afrobeats icons Asake and Rema.

Ayra Starr, King Promise, Uncle Waffles, Kizz Daniel, Musa Keys, and other African celebrities are already on the festival list; Lil Wayne and Shenseea, a dancehall performer from Jamaica, were just added. This is the festival’s second time in the city; it was first held in August 2023 with Davido and Burna Boy as the headliners.

Founded in 2019, it is claimed as the largest Afrobeats event in the world, drawing in over 40 000 attendees from over 130 countries. The festival has previously held its first US edition in May 2023 at the 40,000-seat LoanDepot Park stadium in Miami. Tyla, Omah Lay, and Nicki Minaj are among the acts scheduled for Afro Nation’s June trip to Portugal, which comes before Detroit.

Renowned African stars and US urban giants have frequently performed at the festival, which has previously taken place in Portugal, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Afro Nation was hosted in 2020 and 2022 in Ghana, the only other country in Africa. Citing quality issues, the festival’s organizers called off its October premiere in Lagos last year.
