Mariah Carey Takes A Boat Trip To Celebrate Her 55th “Anniversary”

On Wednesday, Mariah Carey, the iconic pop artist, celebrated her 55th birthday, which she now refers to as her “anniversary”. The hit-maker posted a gorgeous selfie on Instagram to start the celebrations. In it, she looked radiant and as though she was soaking up all of the birthday wishes.

The Songbird Supreme looked to be lounging on a yacht that was getting ready to sail in the picture. Wearing a tight-fitting, sequined blue gown, wearing her hair in a curled, flowing ponytail, and applying dark purple eye makeup, she seemed as like she was channeling mermaidcore for the outing.

Looking quite thrilled to be celebrating her “anniversary,” Carey’s smile was broad in the picture.

Lovely “happy anniversary” messages were left by fans in the comments, with many mentioning how she was “giving mermaid butterfly” and looked “beautiful in blue.” While on vacation, the Grammy winner commemorated her birthday last year as well. She announced on Instagram that she was kicking off the new year with a splash, sharing a video of herself leaping off a boat into gorgeous tropical waters.

For years, Carey has referred his birthdays as anniversaries. In a 2014 special feature article for OUT Magazine, she discussed the idea in detail, saying that she only celebrates her 12-year birthday’s anniversary because she feels “eternally 12-years-old.”
