Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Hiss’ Sees Rapper “Feeling Stronger” Following Aftermath Of Label Battle

The vicious new track, “Hiss,” by Megan Thee Stallion was released. In just over three minutes, the Houston Hottie asserts her authority and calls out those who belittle her before the music even begins. It serves as a poignant reminder that her critics only became well-known and received attention because Megan helped them overcome their negative self-perception. “Hiss” is the follow-up to November 2023’s “Cobra,” which was her first release following the resolution of her legal dispute with 1501 Certified Entertainment, her previous label. The snake motif in both songs might be seen as Megan peeling off her old skin to reveal a stronger, more confident version of herself. She has gone past the animosity and conflicts that over the past few years have caused her personal hardships, and she is letting her music and new endeavors speak for themselves.

Though the rapper will now be working with Warner Music Group to distribute her music, it was reported last year that she is still a completely independent artist. Following a three-year legal fight, the rapper finally called it quits with her previous record company, 1501 Certified Entertainment, in October. Warner Music Group purchased 300 Entertainment in 2021, and as a result, her songs were distributed through a partnership under that agreement. The two parties allegedly “reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences,” according to Billboard, after Megan launched a complaint against 1501 for allegedly owed royalties under her deal. Staff members at 300 Entertainment as well as others at WMG will back the rapper under the terms of the new distribution deal. Roc Nation will continue to oversee her.
