Naira Marley And Sam Larry Have Been Granted Bail Of 20 Million Naira Each With Conditions Attached

A Magistrate’s Court in Yaba, Lagos State, met on Monday and granted bail to Azeez Fashola, known better by his stage name, Naira Marley, and the Lagos big boy socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry. The court set their bail at 20 million naira each, with three responsible sureties tagging along.

On October 6, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and two other people were charged and taken into custody for their suspected roles in the events surrounding the death of former Marlian Records artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly referred to as Mohbad.

The bail terms include giving up their international passports and making weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti. In addition, Magistrate Olatunbosun, according to the released statement, the magistrate forewarned against contacting her personally as any attempts to do so would be recorded and played out loud in court.

Prior to the recent events, Naira Marley and Sam Larry had filed a lawsuit against the Lagos magistrate and the Nigerian police for their long-term detention for their suspected roles in Mohbad’s murder. Marley and his partner had filed the lawsuit with respect to their fundamental rights in order to challenge their prolonged detention.

In their action, Naira Marley and Sam Larry also sought the same N20M each in damages. How the tables turn.
