Nigerian Idol Season 9 Set To Debut On April 21

Nigerian Idol’s ninth season is set to debut on April 21st, according to Multichoice Nigeria. Young, undiscovered Nigerian musicians will be featured in the 12-week program, which ends on July 14.

The competition awarded Victory Gbakara a top prize of ₦50 million (about $111,000) last year, and he was declared the winner. This contained a recording contract, an automobile, and N35 million in cash. Past winners of the competition include Progress Chukwuyem, Mercy Chinwo, Moses Obi-Adigwe, Evelle, K-Peace, and Kingdom Kroseide.

This year, singers Omawumi, Ric Hassani, and 9ice will be joining the competition jury panel in place of D’banj, Simi, and Obi Asika. Renowned host and media personality, IK Osakioduwa will be back hosting. Regarding his distinct position in this year’s competition, Ric Hassani, who calls himself the “technical judge,” expressed his belief that he will be adding more energy to the TV show.

He expressed his eagerness to begin and said he takes the responsibility of being a judge extremely seriously. As for the competitors, Omawumi emphasized that there can only be one winner and that they must be prepared and committed to meet the demands of the competition. She continued by saying that the key to success is a combination of skill and hard effort, which she believes is the winning recipe.
