OAP Dotun’s Ex-Wife Taiwo Oyebanjo Faces Legal Repercussions Over Contempt

Court Orders Payment of Fine, Highlights Disobedience of Joint Custody Agreement

Taiwo Oyebanjo, the former wife of On-Air Personality (OAP) Dotun Kayode, has been found guilty of contempt by a high court in Dukpa, Abuja. The court’s decision stems from Oyebanjo’s refusal to adhere to a previously agreed-upon joint custody arrangement concerning their children.

The court had granted both Dotun and Taiwo shared custody of their children in a case numbered GWD/PET/25/21. This decision was made after Dotun filed a request in April 2022, to which both parties had initially consented. However, since December 2022, Taiwo has consistently denied Dotun access to their children without providing any specific reasons for her actions. This refusal led Dotun to seek legal redress, igniting a heated and public dispute between the former couple on various social media platforms.

The court, in its ruling, emphasized that Taiwo’s actions since December 2022 directly violated its order. As a result, she has been mandated to pay a fine of N200,000 within a 30-day window. Failure to make this payment could result in a jail term until the stipulated amount is settled.

Adding another layer to the ongoing saga, Dotun has alleged that Taiwo took their two daughters out of Nigeria in June 2023, further complicating his efforts to see them.

The case has garnered significant attention, with many followers of the couple and interested parties keenly observing the proceedings. The court’s decision serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to legal agreements, especially those concerning the welfare and rights of children.

It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days, especially with the looming deadline for the payment of the fine. The broader public will undoubtedly be watching closely, hoping for a resolution that prioritizes the well-being of the children involved.
