Nicki Minaj Faces Legal Battle Over Alleged Jewelry Damage
Claims of Damaged Jewelry and Unsettled Bills Surface
Nicki Minaj, the renowned rapper, finds herself amidst a legal storm as an independent jewelry company alleges that she damaged pieces they entrusted to her. The lawsuit, which has caught the attention of many, revolves around a sum of $26,000, a figure the jewelry company claims is owed to them due to the damages.
Court documents have surfaced, revealing that Minaj’s legal team has categorically denied any wrongdoing. The motion filed by her attorney states, “Defendant denies, both generally and specifically, each and every allegation of the Complaint and deny that Plaintiff is entitled to any relief whatsoever.” The rapper has asserted that she and her stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, returned the jewelry pieces approximately 12 days after they were loaned to her by the independent jewelers.
The crux of the matter seems to revolve around the condition of the returned jewelry. Minaj’s defense argues that any damages, if they occurred, were not due to her negligence. The documents further elaborate, “Plaintiff’s damages, if any, were caused by the primary negligence and/or acquiescence in the acts and omissions alleged in the Complaint by Plaintiff and/or its agents or others acting on Plaintiff’s behalf.” They further argue that the plaintiff now seeks to both retain the jewelry and claim money for its value.
Photographs presented in court depict some of the allegedly damaged items from the West Hollywood-based brand, Roseark. The brand claims that Minaj and her team failed to return 66 pieces on time. When the items were eventually returned, Roseark alleges they were in a defective state. The brand subsequently billed Minaj a sum of over $26,000, which they claim remains unpaid.
Jordan Siev, Minaj’s attorney, commented on the matter, stating, “We [received no] evidence that [Nicki damaged] any of the jewelry at issue.” He further added that the lawsuit seems to be a publicity stunt by the jeweler and that they will defend against the lawsuit vigorously.
While the legal proceedings continue, fans and followers await further developments. Minaj, who has been making waves with her upcoming “Pink Friday 2”, remains at the center of attention, both for her music and this unfolding legal drama.
