P-Square Reverses Course And Withdraws From Peter Obi’s Rally In Akwa Ibom
Famous Nigerian musicians Peter and Paul Okoye, better known by their stage name P-Square, have announced on social media that they will not play at the Akwa Ibom campaign event for Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi. The two were supposed to electrify supporters with the former governor of Anambra, who is expected to rally in the South-South state today.
Aisha Yesufu, a social activist and member of the LP campaign team, tweeted that “unforeseen circumstances” prevented the singers from attending the protest. Before she could even make the tweet, Nigerians had already started chewing up the twin megastars, tagging them “hypocrites.” Aisha saw one of such angry tweets and kindly asked that the user blame her instead. She said the mentioned “unforeseen circumstances” were her fault, not the twins’.
She added, though, that the incredible Okoye twins would be pulling up to join the presidential rally in the coming days, so all P-Square fans in that region can keep hope alive the same way Paul Okoye preserved his hopes to find love again following the annulment of his marriage to his ex-wife Anita. The divorce between Anita and her estranged husband, Paul Okoye, has been finally granted by a Nigerian High Court in Maitama, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. This implies that Paul Okoye is free to wed any woman he chooses in his second marriage.
