Although Mac Miller is no longer present, projects involving him occasionally pop up, and this time, a collaboration with Madlib is in the works. It has been made known by Madlib that his previously announced collaboration with the late rapper is almost finished. This is excellent news for Mac Miller fans because more music from him is on the way.
The rapper/producer updated the album, formerly known as Maclib while appearing with Talib Kweli on “Sway in the Morning” this week. To clarify that this is the same record revealed in 2019 following Mac Miller’s passing, Madlib remarked, “Right now, I’m finishing up the Mac Miller album.”
He added that the idea had received approval from Mac’s estate. He responded, “Yeah, sure, they’re down. At the time, his team announced that they were working on an unnamed project to honor Malcolm and his music and that “His art affected so many lives in so many different ways.”
In January 2020, Circles, Mac’s last album, was released by his estate. Then, in July 2020, his estate announced intentions for a posthumous project containing tributes from supporters. Although it’s unclear how far along that album is and when it will be released, it seems nearing completion.
Fans could contact a toll-free number set up and offer their stories, thoughts, and wishes to be included in the project.
Recently, Ariana Grande commemorated the tenth anniversary of “The Way,” her debut song with Miller, her then-boyfriend. When a fan account noticed the achievement and uploaded the video on her Instagram Stories, she left a remark saying, “I love you.”
