Prior To The Start Of The Megan Thee Stallion Trial, Tory Lanez Has Been Placed Under House Arrest

Tory Lanez has been put under house arrest in Los Angeles before the start of his trial for allegedly assaulting Megan Thee Stallion. According to the Los Angeles Times, Lanez will be placed under house arrest starting on October 31.

The decision was made in response to an alleged altercation between Lanez and rapper August Alsina in September, which took place while Lanez was free on bail in the Megan Thee Stallion case. Prosecutor Alexander Bott urged the judge to issue the order, claiming that Lanez’ alleged encounter with Alsina while out on bail demonstrates “a flagrant disregard for the court’s orders.”

Responding, defense lawyer Shawn Holley described the altercation with Alsina as “mere claims,” stating he’s “not really sure that there’s anything this court should do given the unproven allegations.” In spite of that defense, a district attorney’s office representative in Los Angeles County stated that Lanez “was placed on house arrest today… as a result of his alleged altercation with August Alsina.”

The spokesperson also specified the length of Lanez’s home detention, which will end when he appears in court again on November 28 in connection with the Megan Thee Stallion case. In that case, Lanez is being charged with assault and possession of a firearm after Megan claimed in 2020 that Lanez had shot her in the foot. Lanez later entered a not guilty plea in November 2021.
