R. Kelly Fires Back Against Standing $10.5M Lawsuit; Says “I’m Not Responsible”
In response to a significant ruling in a lawsuit brought by women who said he had abused them, R. Kelly is responding, claiming he was unaware of the case and “shouldn’t be held responsible.”
Here’s the thing: After accusing him and his former manager, Donnell Russell, of being behind an attempt to stop a December 2018 NYC screening of the docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” by threatening a mass shooting, six women won $10.5 million in court judgment in August. Kelly, though, believes he is not at fault, and it is still unclear if the women will receive a penny of the $10.5 million award. Kelly asserts that if he had known about the “stupid thing,” he would have defended himself against the case, according to fresh court documents that the media could get.
The now-disgraced veteran singer believes his numerous criminal charges and prosecutions are already spinning his brain. He is being sued so frequently that he can hardly keep up with it from his North Carolina prison cell. Kelly further maintains that since being imprisoned, he has switched around legal representation and that this lawsuit must have fallen between the cracks or not reached him at all while he was incarcerated. Kelly claims that even if the lawsuit had been received, he could not read it or tell it apart from other court paperwork. Therefore, he depends on his lawyers to explain things. Furthermore, Kelly asserts that Donnell was not, as stated in the lawsuit, his manager and that he was unaware that Russell was attempting to halt the “Surviving” screening. Kelly clarifies that he did not request that Donnell do so, and if Russell did threaten to carry out a mass massacre to halt the screening, “he did that for his reasons.”
