Rema Disappointedly Halts His Set And Exits The Stage At The Dreamville Fest 2024

Nigerian Afrobeats performer Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage moniker as Rema, recently performed at J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival with other international musicians like SZA, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, and J. Cole himself. However, things went south during his set at the fest.

Tens of thousands of music enthusiasts from throughout the nation descended upon Raleigh, North Carolina’s Dorothea Dix Park on April 6 and 7, 2024, to partake in the annual celebration of music in its many forms. Rema hit the stage to do what he knows how to do best, but when the sound system started to experience delayed feedback, he had to interrupt his performance of his global smash, “Calm Down.”

The singer abruptly cut short his performance midway to let the audience know how he felt about the sound quality and technical difficulties he was having on stage. Nevertheless, the singer carried on with his performance in an attempt to satisfy and amuse the audience who had come to see him play.

After expressing his displeasure to the crowd, Rema ended the performance for the second time and decided not to continue. Instead, he chose to leave the stage.

This wouldn’t be the first time the Rave Lorde would be walking off the stage mid-set due to poor sound quality. All the singer wants is for international show organizers to put some respect on Afrobeats and its artists, which isn’t too much to ask.
