Liya Finally Exits Davido’s DMW After Two Years; Says She’s “Still Part Of 30BG”
Liya, a well-known Nigerian singer and songwriter born Abdulsalam Suliyat Modasola, recently made headlines when she signed with Davido Music Worldwide, or DMW, Davido’s record label. However, Liya has revealed that she is no longer formally signed to DMW in response to a question posed by one of her followers on Instagram. Why she has decided to cut ties with the label has not been revealed though she emphasized that she still sees herself as a part of the DMW family, 30BG, in spite of this.
After signing a record deal with DMW in 2020, Liya released her debut single, “Melo,” which quickly gained the attention of the music industry. Her signing was a significant turning point because she was the first female artist Davido signed to his label, giving her the nickname “First Lady” of DMW. Davido announced her signing via his social media channels, further solidifying her reputation in the business.

She completed her elementary and high school education in Lagos before enrolling in the University of Ilorin’s linguistics program.
