Triumphant Return to the Spotlight After Previous Wins

The beauty pageant scene in Nigeria was set ablaze as Mitchel Ihezue, representing Imo State, was crowned the winner of the Miss Universe Nigeria 2023 pageant. The grand finale, which took place at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, was a spectacle of glamour, talent, and determination.

Mitchel Ihezue is no stranger to the limelight. This 26-year-old visual artist, known for her advocacy for women’s rights, previously clinched the title of Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2017. Her prowess on the global stage was further solidified when she represented Nigeria at the Miss World beauty pageant the same year. Not only did she make it to the top 40, but she also secured the title of Miss World Top Model 2017.

The Miss Universe Nigeria 2023 pageant was notable for its inclusivity. The eligibility criteria welcomed contestants from various walks of life, be they single, married, single mothers, or divorced. Furthermore, it embraced diversity in body types, allowing both slender and plus-size contestants to participate. Contestants ranged between the ages of 18 and 28, with a total of 37 participants representing all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The competition was fierce, with the top 5 contestants being Miss Imo, Miss Zamfara, Miss Ekiti, Miss Lagos, and Miss Anambra. Other notable winners of the night included Chinaza Miracle from Borno, who earned the Miss Amity title, Nana Aisha Abubakar from Nasarawa who claimed Miss Photogenic, and Precious Marcus Chinah from Taraba, who dazzled in the Best Traditional Costume category.

Mitchel’s crowning was a moment of pride and celebration. She was presented the crown by Hannah Iribhogbe, the Miss Universe Nigeria 2022. With a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Lagos Business School, Mitchel’s combination of beauty, brains, and purpose sets her apart. As she gears up to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador on November 18, the nation watches with bated breath, hoping for another international win.
