Seun Kuti Demands That Marijuana Use Be Made Legal in Nigeria

Grammy-nominated Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has urged Nigerian authorities to take legalization of marijuana use into consideration. He claims that there is currently no scientific evidence linking marijuana usage to any short- or long-term health risks.

He pointed out that while consuming beer kills people on the road every day, Nigeria has lost its own strain of marijuana due to the country’s strict marijuana prohibitions. The unconventional artist continued by saying that the use of marijuana is allowed in many nations, including Israel, which Nigerian Christians consider to be their “Holy Land.”

In a recent Instagram live session with his supporters, Seun voiced his complaints. Omoyele Sowore, the AA party’s presidential candidate for 2019 and 2023, would have been very good friends with Kuti if the elections had gone in his favor because he had given his word to legalize the use of cannabis if elected president of Nigeria.

However, before now, Big Bird Kuti had already began campaigning for the legalizing of the special plant, even revealing one time that he and his mother used to blow trees in his room whenever his grandmother was visiting. One of Seun’s strongest points is that the banned marijuana plant does not kill like the legalized alcohol and tobacco do every other day.
