Taylor Swift’s album “1989 (Taylor’s Version) has officially become the best-selling album of 2023. Her album “Midnights” had previously held the record, but she broke it by reaching the top spot with this new project. In the five days following its release, her reissue has sold an astounding number of records. ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ sold over a million copies in the United States, according to Billboard. In contrast, ‘Midnights,’ which came out in late 2022, sold 778,000 copies this year.

And Taylor has more than the year’s two best-selling albums. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), her reissued album, comes in third with almost 742,000 sales. Swift has now sold at least a million copies of an album in a single week in the United States six times thanks to the success of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which she describes as her “most FAVORITE re-record.”

Midnights (2022), Reputation (2017), the original 1989 (2014), Red (2012), and Speak Now (2010) are the other five releases to cross the one million milestone. Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) debuted with 507,000 sales in the week ending July 13, although 1989 (Taylor’s Version) already owns the record for 2023’s highest sales week.

In the week ending October 27, 2022, 1.14 million copies of the newly remastered version were sold, making it the best-selling album since Swift’s ‘Midnights’ debut. Throughout the course of its first five days of availability, the 21-song streaming version of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) had garnered over 307 million on-demand official streams and out of each of Swift’s four re-recorded albums, that is her biggest streaming week to date.
