Tracy Chapman To Perform Iconic ‘Fast Car’ With Luke Combs At The Grammys

Celebrated US singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman is all set to take centre stage at this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony. Chapman, whose iconic song ‘Fast Car’ is a favourite among music lovers, will reportedly perform a duet with Luke Combs during the awards show on Sunday (February 5). Industry insiders have revealed that the duo will be singing ‘Fast Car’ together, with Combs, whose cover of the classic song was a massive hit last year, joining forces with Chapman for this highly anticipated performance. This is a rare opportunity for fans to see Chapman perform live, as she has not performed on stage since the conclusion of her last tour back in 2009.

Chapman once told Billboard in a statement,

“I never expected to find myself on the country charts, but I’m honored to be there,”.

“I’m happy for Luke and his success and grateful that new fans have found and embraced ‘Fast Car.’”

History was made last year in country music when a song written 35 years prior by a black songwriter named Chapman was awarded both piece and single of the year at the 2023 awards ceremony in Nashville. This was a momentous occasion, as it marked the first time in the award’s 57-year history that a black songwriter had won Song of the Year.

It is worth noting that ‘Fast Car’, a song by Combs, reached number seven in the Official Charts Top 40. Last year, Chapman expressed her support for the country music star’s cover of the song. The upcoming Grammys, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, will feature a star-studded lineup of performers, including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, and Burna Boy. This year’s host will be Trevor Noah, who will host the awards for the fourth year.

Taylor Swift, SZA, Victoria Monét, and Phoebe Bridgers lead this year’s nominations. It promises to be an exciting event full of talented performers and deserving nominees.
