On January 25, the RIAA officially certified “Slow Jamz” as platinum, marking a triumphant moment for the artist. “Slow Jamz” was released on November 10, 2003, and featured Kanye West and Jamie Foxx. The song eventually climbed to the Billboard Hot 100 charts, making it the first No. 1 track for Twista, Foxx, and West. Additionally, it received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2005, although it lost to “Numb/Encore” by Linkin Park feat. Jay-Z.

Twista has been a prominent figure in the hip-hop community for over 35 years. He gained fame in the early ’90s with his mesmerizing rapid-fire flow, earning him the title “World’s Fastest Rapper” in 1992, according to Guinness World Records. Twista became a household name with his show-stealing guest verse on Do Or Die’s 1996 Rap-A-Lot Records classic “Po Pimp.” This breakthrough set the stage for the success that would come with Twista’s platinum-selling third studio album, Adrenaline Rush.

Twista believes that the 1997 LP established him as “a real rapper” and helped validate rappers from his hometown. However, despite the recognition that followed Adrenaline Rush, his 2004 album, Kamikaze, propelled Twista to a whole new level of success. The album was a commercial and critical success, featuring a range of top-notch collaborations with fellow artists, including Kanye West, Ludacris, and Anthony Hamilton. The Kamikaze album solidified Twista’s position as one of the most influential and respected artists in the hip-hop genre. Twista’s music has always been known for its fast-paced delivery, intricate wordplay, and storytelling. His unique style and impressive body of work have earned him a devoted fan base and a place in hip-hop history.
