Kanye West’s Graduation album has been receiving love from people all over the world, and now the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified it once more.

The record was certified six times platinum the day before, but the esteemed industry association declared on Thursday, January 11, that it had now achieved seven platinum certifications. Along with “All of the Lights,” “Follow God” became double platinum, while “Runaway” featuring Pusha T achieved five platinum certification on Wednesday, January 10.

Graduation was initially released all the way back in 2007. Hip-hop fans saw Kanye West’s graduation as a “Thriller moment,” according to Yasiin Bey (who was once known as Mos Def). In an interview with Dave Chappelle and Talib Kweli, another Black Star MC, for 2022 Drink Champs, the Brooklyn rapper likened the success of Kanye West’s third album to that of Michael Jackson’s 1982 record.

Beyoncé, expressing a widely held belief, claimed that Graduation changed the course of Hip Hop when it outsold (and, in his view, exceeded) 50 Cent’s Curtis during the much-discussed sales battle between Kanye and 50 in September 2007.

The project has had over 5 billion plays overall, even though it was released before the majority of Spotify customers were even on the service. On the album, four tracks—including “I Wonder” and “Homecoming” featuring Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin—have received more than 500 million streams.
