Yemi Alade, a Nigerian singer of Afropop, has released her most recent EP, “Mamapiano,” which is a four-track examination of the Amapiano genre. As previously said, Alade’s EP is her own interpretation of the popular Amapiano genre.

“Mamapiano” is an unique project that will continue to shape the mood well into 2024 in addition to the remaining portion of the year. The four tracks also feature catchy melodies and rhythms that make them ideal companions for listeners on a variety of occasions.

For for new EP, Alade literally glows, from her makeup, to her clear brown skin, to her white suit jacket and long, thick white braids, which falls over shoulders, forming the perfect backdrop for showing off her both well-manicured hands and fancy rings.

Tracks and Features

In high spirits, Yemi begins her new record with “Amazing Grace,” where her motto is mind over matter. She did not come to life to suffer, so she stays lit despite the ‘enemies’ lurking around her. She didn’t even have to be explicit, but the way she described her goods turning into a tsunami when she walks will give you all the mental imagery you need. The beat and how she rode it shows expertise in her craft and a level of confidence in her Amapiano genre switch. Niniola is no longer alone.

With the fitting introduction of an already hyped hypeman, Yemi kicks off the party banger, “Ladies (Get Up).” For the ladies, Yemi has one message and one message only: Dance. Just get up and get to grooving. Though the lyrics are pretty much empty, the energy, vibe and bouncy Amapiano beat holds it up from crashing down to mid. Though it’s hard to say she doesn’t sound like Lady Donli in some parts of the song, not that it’s intentional. Also, introducing a bit of Yoruba to the bounce helped the party cause.

She invites Ajebo Hustlers to the Mamapiano party on “EFCC,” and they attack the beat like wild animals, tearing down and slaughtering. Alade and the south-south duo discuss relationship matters and the issues that can arise when there’s a lack of trust on one end or both. Piego does a solid job of crafting a chorus that even Yemi couldn’t help but sing along to. Knowledge, the rapper in the Ajebo Hustlers group, also delivers smoothly with fine wordplay. The bus would have already left you behind when you realize he interchangeably uses the pidgin slangs for money, “Cheese or bar” and the Igbo name, “Chizoba,” given mostly to females. Great production too, we must add.

Using “Ogini,” she closes the project with an energy similar to how she started it. She’s all about balling and getting turnt! She’s also not terrified of the bills her balling activities rack up, as she is equal to the ask, which she brags about. The typical Friday night of an independent, rich African aunty, who also identifies as a party animal. Great Amapiano vibes throughout, which does its designated job of getting you to move your body or at least a part of it.
