Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is an English singer and songwriter. She was born in Tottenham, North London, on May 5, 1988. Her debut album, “19,” went straight to number one in the UK and number 31 on the US Billboard 200 in 2008, selling nearly 3 million copies worldwide.
The album was certified triple platinum in the UK, where it stayed for a year, making her the first artist to sell over 1 million albums based entirely on downloads. In 2010, Adele won two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Song of the Year for “Chasing Pavements.”
