Bloody Civilian Biography

Bloody Civilian, Yours Truly, Artists, April 27, 2024

Born and raised in Taraba State, She was born Emoseh Khamofu on July 26, 1997, and her upbringing in the northern region of Nigeria—between Kaduna, Jos, and Abuja—inspired her artwork. Her parents forbade her from leaving the traditional setting where she was raised. The genre-defying singer-songwriter’s ability to communicate her message succinctly and effectively stems from her background combined with the “solemn” aspects of growing up in Abuja.

She began creating songs when she was eight and frequently gave them to her parents. Previously a musical tourist in a band, Emoseh’s father was, she claimed, a part of her early musical foundation. Her upbringing in the northern region of Nigeria, where there is a lot of military brutality, served as the inspiration for her moniker, “Bloody Civilian.” This setting fundamentally altered Emoseh’s outlook on life, and she was motivated to communicate her feelings and ideas via music. She wanted to create awareness and effect change by using her songs to illuminate the terrible reality civilians in conflict zones must endure. Emoseh was well-known in her school as a teenager who could sing and play the guitar because she frequently participated in talent competitions where she played original songs and encouraged students to learn her lyrics. She continued, creating beats and sending them to school rappers. Emoseh gradually began focusing on her songs, honing her production abilities.
