Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer and songwriter who was born on November 21, 1985. Jepsen gained mainstream attention after finishing third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol in 2007. She had previously studied musical theatre throughout her school and undergraduate years.

Jepsen’s breakthrough occurred in 2012, when her acclaimed single “Call Me Maybe” was named the best-selling single of the year, selling over 18 million copies and hitting number one in more than 19 countries, landing her big record deals with Schoolboy Records and Interscope Records.
