Carly Rae Jepsen Unveils ‘The Loveliest Time’: A Continuation of Her Musical Journey

New Album Set to Release on July 28, Continues the Tradition of B-Side Projects

Carly Rae Jepsen has announced the release of her new album, “The Loveliest Time.” The album, set to hit the airwaves on July 28, is a continuation of her 2022 release, “The Loneliest Time.” This announcement has stirred excitement among fans and critics alike, eager to hear Jepsen’s latest musical exploration.

“The Loveliest Time” is the third in a series of companion B-side albums, following “Emotion: Side B” and “Dedicated: Side B.” These projects have always offered a deep dive into Jepsen’s creative process, but “The Loveliest Time” promises to be even wilder and freer than what came before. It expands upon the multilayered soundscapes she created on 2019’s “Dedicated” and 2020’s “Dedicated: Side B,” as well as 2015’s critically lauded and culture-defining “Emotion.”

The album will feature twelve new tracks, including the recently released single “Shy Boy,” produced by James Ford. Over the past ten months, Jepsen has been reworking a collection of songs that were born in isolation. She enlisted a team of trusted all-star collaborators, including John Hill, Patrik Berger, Rostam Batmanglij, Kyle Shearer, and more, to distill “The Loveliest Time” into her most introspective and effervescent work to date.

In a statement, Jepsen shared, “I got to know loneliness and discover the beauty in it. ‘The Loneliest Time’ taught me that growth comes from being planted in darkness. But now the world has opened itself back up again, and in turn, so have we.” This sentiment resonates with the collective experience of the past few years, making “The Loveliest Time” a timely release.

Jepsen’s upcoming album will surround a summer of touring, including a string of shows with indie darlings Boygenius, performances at major summer festivals including Lollapalooza and Osheaga, and a handful of very special engagements in Los Angeles and New York. The four original dates—two in each city—sold out immediately, prompting a third night to be added at the Bellwether in LA due to the incredible demand.

With “The Loveliest Time,” Carly Rae Jepsen continues to push the boundaries of pop music, offering a fresh perspective on the genre while staying true to her unique sound. As fans eagerly anticipate the album’s release, one thing is certain: Carly Rae Jepsen’s musical journey is far from over.
