As a result of his relationship with his brother-in-law, he was hired to be Fresh Kid Ice, a member of the “2 Live Crew,”‘s hype man and backup rapper. In this position, he traveled with Ice and appeared on many of the songs from Ice’s 2004 album, “Freaky Chinese.” DeVante Swing, a member of Jodeci, was drawn to him because of his work with Ice. Despite being under the direction of A&R, he still tried to sign with a respectable label and received rejection letters from well-known record companies. He joined the American hip-hop group Hot Boyz in 2000.
During his hard times, he took on a variety of odd occupations to support his passion for music, occasionally sleeping in motels or even on the streets. He returned to Florida after receiving a call from a Poe Boy Entertainment (now Poe Boy Music Group) agent in the United States. In 2004, he made a deal with the label. His debut album, “Mail on Sunday,” which included the Rick Ross-featuring song “Birthday,” was his first significant release. He made his debut as a guest performer on the song “Bitch I’m From Dade County” on DJ Khaled’s 2007 album “We the Best,” which also included Rick Ross, Dr. Dre, C-Ride, Trina, Brisco, and Trick Daddy. He issued his debut single on October 9, 2007, through ‘Atlanta Records’ titled ‘Low,’ which found its place in his first studio album, ‘Mail on Sunday.’

The American hit dance movie “Step Up 2: The Streets” (2008) had the song co-written by Tramar Dillard and T-Pain. A number of national and international charts, including the ARIA Charts, Canadian Hot 100, US Billboard Hot 100, US Hot Rap Songs (Billboard), and US Rhythmic (Billboard), among others, saw “Low” rise to the top. Three singles from his debut album, “Mail on Sunday,” released on March 18, 2008, including “Low.” The other two, “Elevator,” released on February 11, and “In the Ayer,” released on May 20, reached various charts and peaked at #16 and #9 on the US Billboard Hot 100, respectively.

His breakthrough song “Low” from 2008 spent ten weeks at the top of the US charts and broke the sales record for digital downloads at its release. 2008’s Mail on Sunday, Flo Rida’s first studio album, peaked at number four in the US. The following year, R.O.O.T.S followed the album. His later albums, Only One Flo (Part 1) from 2010 and Wild Ones from 2012, made the US Billboard 200 chart. Rotem-produced “Roll,” co-written by Compton rapper Spitfiya, while Lil Wayne appeared on the “American Superstar” rhythm. Birdman, Brisco, and Yung Joc were among the other guests.

Due to the impending release of Flo Rida’s second studio album, R.O.O.T.S’s fourth single, “Money Right,” featuring Brisco and Rick Ross, was scrapped. Although they were recorded, his second collaborations with T-Pain, “I Bet,” and Trina, “Bout It,” did not make the album’s final tracklist.
