Williams was born in Marietta, Georgia. He grew up in a musical family as his uncle was an accomplished guitar player, and one of his older sisters was a drum major in the Olympics. While growing up, Mike Will was athletic, participating in many sports, including basketball, baseball, and football, with dreams of becoming a professional athlete. His life also centred around a love of hip-hop music. Mike WiLL Made-It’s passion for music was ignited by his Uncle Al, a skilled musician. Under his guidance, Mike developed his love for music production and learned the importance of perseverance, individuality, and building his own unique identity.

When he was just 14 years old, Mike Will started creating his beats on a Korg ES1 beat machine gifted to him by his father from the local music store Mars Music. As he progressed, he began incorporating other production equipment, such as the Korg Triton, Akai MPC1000, Yamaha Motif, and Roland Fantom. At 16, Mike Will spent time at recording studios in Atlanta, attempting to pitch his beats to established artists. Despite the initial disregard, Gucci Mane eventually received one of Mike Will’s beat tapes and invited him to Patchwerk Studios, an Atlanta-based recording studio.
