Pharrell Williams Biography
Pharrell Lanscilo Williams, an American record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and fashion designer was born on April 5, 1973. He founded the hip-hop and R&B production team the Neptunes with close friend and coworker Chad Hugo in the early 1990s, and since then, they have worked on tracks for various recording artists. He joined the band N.E.R.D., which he co-founded with Hugo and drummer Shay Haley as the main vocalist in 1999. Williams has received much praise for being one of the twenty-first century’s most successful and influential music producers and for significantly influencing the sound of contemporary popular music.
Williams has been nominated for and awarded many awards. 13 Grammy Awards have been issued to him, three of which were for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical (one as a member of the Neptunes). Additionally, as a producer of Hidden Figures, he was nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Picture in 2017 and Best Original Song in 2014, both for “Happy” from Despicable Me 2.
