“Start early” is the mantra some people swear to live but, it is doubtful Wesley had that in mind when he started his football adventurer at the age of six. Still, it is clear that his having started out early contributed massively to the big success that he is today, at 22.

Born in France to an Ivorian father and French mother, Fofana delved into the world of football at the age of six, playing for Repos Vitrolles. He was devoted enough to stick it out in the youth system until he was able to snag his first professional contract as a footballer.

Saint-Étienne was where the professional career began. In the intervening years, though, he had played for other clubs, including Chelsea and Leicester. Today he is internationally famous as a defender.
