BBNaija: Seun Kuti Suggests Reality Show Should Focus On National Development

Popular singer Oluseun Anikulapo Kuti has once more stated his opinion that the popular reality series Big Brother Naija should have focused on finding answers to Nigeria’s challenges rather than just unwholesome entertainment contents. This will not be the first time he has suggested this.

In a recent interview with Gbenga Aborowa of Spade TV Africa, he participated as a guest speaker and the two talked about Africa’s role in the UN. He emphasized that the yearly Big Brother Naija show should have been tailored to promote Nigeria’s development throughout this conversation.

Kuti also pointed out that the program should have discussed viable solutions to the myriad problems in Nigeria rather than concentrating on social abilities and strategies. He continued by saying that rather than the housemates, it would be preferable if the show’s audience choose the most pragmatic solutions out of the discussions from the housemates and who was to stay or leave based on their intellectual and problem-solving skills.

He said,

“Big Brother Naija is the way it is because of the Investment that is put in it. It was designed by certain people to be that way. The people that designed Big Brother could have decided that it would be a show where young people discuss the issue of the country and come up with solutions and other young people and viewers can vote on the best solution.”

The contentious public figure continued by saying that if the show was designed for growth, the investors would be contributing to Nigeria’s expansion and development. He affirms that the program could benefit Nigerian youths more this way and would be an added advantage to moving Nigeria forward.

In his words,

“That means that the people going from entertainment to solutions and national development, they’re investing in solutions for national development.”
