Billboard Music Awards 2023 Nominations

Taylor Swift, Wallen, and SZA Shine Brightest in Nominations

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) nominations have been unveiled, and the music industry is abuzz with excitement. Leading the pack is the sensational Taylor Swift with a whopping 20 nominations. Not far behind are SZA and Morgan Wallen, each securing 17 nods across various categories.

The Weeknd, known for his chart-topping hits, has been nominated for 16 awards. Meanwhile, the renowned artist Drake, who currently holds the record for the most BBMA wins at 34, is in the running for 14 more this year. Newcomer Zach Bryan has made a significant impact, being nominated in 13 categories.

This year’s BBMAs have introduced nine new categories, reflecting the evolving global music landscape. The bourgeoning K-pop field sees categories like Top Global K-pop Artist and Top K-pop Tour. The rapidly growing Afrobeats genre is also getting its due recognition with categories such as Top Afrobeats Artist and Top Afrobeats Song. This inclusion comes after Wizkid’s win as the inaugural Favorite Afrobeats Artist at the American Music Awards in 2022.

The BBMAs have always been a unique award show, focusing on data-driven metrics based on the Billboard charts’ performance. This year, the awards will be presented in a novel format. Instead of a traditional broadcast, the awards and performances will be showcased on Billboard and BBMAs’ social channels. This innovative approach promises to bring fans closer to their favorite artists and their music.

The awards ceremony is set to take place on November 19. With the nominations now public, fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the performers. The music community is speculating on whether Taylor Swift will surpass Drake’s record of BBMA wins. Given her current trajectory and the love she receives from her fans, it’s a possibility.

In addition to the awards, there’s a lot of anticipation around the performances. The BBMAs, in collaboration with Spotify’s Fans First, promises to deliver exclusive content, including behind-the-scenes moments and unique performances by top artists.

As the date approaches, the excitement is palpable. The 2023 BBMAs promise to be an unforgettable event, celebrating the best in music from around the world. See full nomination table below:
