Blackface Again: Knocks Wiz, Olamide, Burna, Others Of Copyright Infringement And Song Theft

Following the release of another episode of his interview on Nedu’s The Honest Bunch Podcast, Blackface has made a comeback to the headlines, lamenting his misfortune and criticizing his “offenders.” The “Hard Life” singer isn’t fighting 2baba alone this time around; he also seems to be at odds with Afrobeats Superstars Wizkid, Olamide, and Burna Boy, whom he accuses of stealing his songs without providing proper credits.

Blackface, whose real name is Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, spoke openly about his feelings about the Nigerian music industry when appearing as a guest on the Honest Bunch Podcast. Nedu made an effort to investigate the motivations behind Blackface’s persistent claims that Nigerian musicians were stealing his “sounds, rhymes, and vibes” alongside other Honest Bunch casts. Blackface voiced his disapproval of copyright infractions, maintained that he wrote African Queen for Tuface Idibia, accused Wizkid and Banky W of appropriating his lines from his hit song “Like the Way,” and accused Olamide of stealing the melody and percussion from his song “Killer” to write “Don’t Stop.”

According to the show’s host, subjects such as copyright infringements have not seen proper rules and guidelines in the Nigerian entertainment industry. However, Blackface disagreed with this evaluation, as he maintained that other Nigerian musicians deliberately carried out these comparable acts of theft even though they understood it was copyright infringement. During the interview, the media personalities from the show attempted to talk about songs that were credited to the singer, to which the artist said,

“Ginger by Wizkid is my song twist and turn. How many songs has Olamide jacked in his career. Plenty. There’s a song of mine called killer”

On social media, however, many have expressed differing opinions on his standpoint, prompting a range of observations.
