CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” Maintains The Record For Being The Highest-Certified Nigerian Song By The RIAA

CKay’s “Love Nwantiti,” which gained widespread popularity in 2021 on TikTok, is now considered one of the largest exports of Afrobeats and has helped to expand the musical boundaries of Nigeria. According to recent events, the top single from CKay’s 2019 EP, “CKay The First,” has been certified eight times platinum by the RIAA.

The Afrobeats song “Love Nwantiti,” which Tik Tok helped catapult to commercial success, keeps holding the record for being the most certified Nigerian song in the US. In the US, the popular song was well-received and peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100. A few months after getting viral on TikTok, “Love Nwantiti” hit platinum for the first time in January 2022.

It was certified RIAA twice platinum eight months later, in September 2022, and four times platinum in January 2023. On March 27, 2024, it received eight platinum certifications. It is now getting close to becoming 10X platinum, which would make it the first RIAA diamond song in the history of Afrobeats, and its 8X platinum plaque attests to its ongoing success in the US.
