Coachella Hit With A $28K Fine Over Lana Del Rey’s Extended Set

Coachella may have to pay a fine of almost $28,000 (£22,585) because Lana Del Rey’s concert went longer than expected.

The singer ended her headline performance at the Indio event last Friday, April 19, 13 minutes past her scheduled time. She has now submitted the fee to the festival organizers. TMZ broke the story on Monday, April 22, and a city spokesman subsequently told the outlet that the event organizers will be responsible for the money due to the deadline being missed.

The organizers of the well-known California celebration have already paid fines once. As reported by US Weekly, a total of approximately $117,000 (£94,367) in fines was collected for curfew violations over the first weekend of the 2024 edition (April 12–14). These came about as a result of many sets abusing the weekend curfew, which was enforced at midnight on Sunday and at one in the morning on Friday and Saturday.

Coachella was late for curfew all three nights. It was delayed by 25 minutes on Friday, 22 minutes on Saturday, and completed shortly before one in the morning on Sunday. The “Video Games” singer experienced a similar issue with her Glastonbury performance in June of last year. She arrived on stage late and was then abruptly stopped for exceeding the curfew.
