Coi Leray “Disowns” Her Father Benzino Following Shocking R Kelly Comments

Benzino is a controversial figure known for his history of bold statements and vocal opinions. Despite his career as a rapper, he is more popularly known for his highly publicized feud with Eminem in the 2000s. However, his recent We In Miami podcast appearance resulted in a fallout with his daughter, Coi Leray.

During the podcast, Benzino expressed his belief that R. Kelly should be given a second chance, despite his heinous crimes. This statement did not sit well with Leray, who took to X (formerly Twitter) on May 1 to express her disagreement with her father’s views. In her tweet, she clarified that she wanted nothing to do with anything related to her father. She had not spoken to him in over a year, did not condone or respect any of the interviews he was doing, and did not want to be associated with him in any way.

Leray emphasized that being related by DNA and blood did not make them family. She believed family was built on loyalty, boundaries, respect, teaching, guidance, love, patience, and encouragement. Leray expressed her desire to have a child of her own someday so that she can put what she’s learned into practice. Benzino and Leray have had a public history of beefing and making up. In 2022, Leray criticized her father for harassing her mother. She also goes against her father when he tries to revive his feud with Eminem. At that time, Leray called for building bridges and getting over them instead of burning bridges and burning with them. However, the time needed to build bridges with Benzino seems to have ended. Despite their history, Leray’s tweets show that she is resolute in her stance and has no intention of reconciling with her father anytime soon.
