Davido Brags As He Covers Forbes Magazine
Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, best known by his stage name Davido, recently made history by appearing on the cover of Forbes. First, the musician, overcome with joy, thanked the Forbes crew and shared a photo of the magazine’s cover on his social media handles. Then Davido declared himself to be a “godfather.”
He appeared as Forbes ran a feature on the buzzing afrobeat genre and recognized OBO as one of the champions of the new global sound.
Music aficionados will continue to discuss the validity of “Godfather or not” at great length. Nobody can dispute, however, that Davido has always been a “paper-chaser,” as shown by his high-profile partnerships with reputable businesses, which have substantially impacted his ability to accumulate a fortune. Moreover, his most recent album’s release last month also had significant numbers so far, following his link-up with Spotify prior to its release. Therefore, it is not surprising to see the seasoned performer moving with such vigor and beaming from ear to ear, especially given that he has just recently emerged from a devastating phase following the loss of his son.
In his words, he said:
“Emi n’ikan I be godfather oh! Thank you to the amazing @forbes team. Had fun doing this! Feature out now.”
David Adeleke is, beyond a doubt, a talented singer and performer, evident by his recent shows promoting the album. Timeless, his fourth studio album, has made a great impression and contribution to the Afrobeat genre. Davido’s record-breaking album “Timeless” officially debuted on the Billboard 200 albums chart at number 37 after selling over 17,000 units in the US alone.
Davido’s “Godfather” status will be hotly contested, especially by rival fans, but one thing remains sure -OBO is on the right track and making “big moves” again.
