Davido Scheduled To Perform At “Warri Again” Concert After Settling Dispute With Pinnick Out Of Court

An out-of-court settlement between Brownhill Investment Company and David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has been approved by an Effurun Delta High Court.

On Thursday, Effurun’s High Court Three’s Justice Michael Obi congratulated both parties for their cooperative decision to resolve out-of-court. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is the owner of Brownhill Investment Company.

As joint defendants in the lawsuit filed in October 2023 with the court under the case number EHC/183/2023 were the afrobeat artist Davido and his record label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited. NAN had initially filed a lawsuit against the defendants alleging that they had broken their agreement to play at the 19th “Warri Again Concert.”

The appellant requested in the lawsuit that the defendants pay the defendants ₦2 billion in general damages for breaching the terms of the concert contract. In addition, Pinnick’s company asked the court for ₦150 million in legal and professional fees, plus an extra ₦30 million for closing costs.

Following the court hearings, Oladayo Ogungbe, the defendants’ attorney, responded to the ruling by telling NAN that both parties had had time to consider an out-of-court settlement. Moreover, a clause in the agreement said that Davido will play at the upcoming annual event on October 4.

According to NAN, Pinnick organizes the ‘Warri Again’ concert every year to honor performers from the Niger Delta.
