Dr. Dre Discloses He Experienced Three Strokes While Receiving Treatment For Brain Aneurysm

Legendary hip-hop producer and OG rapper, Dr. Dre, is taking into account his health issues three years following a brain aneurysm.

The rapper and record producer talked about experiencing “three strokes” while receiving treatment for his 2021 brain aneurysm in a recent interview with James Corden on SiriusXM’s This Life of Mine. He said the experience helped him “appreciate being alive.”

When considering how the event started, Dr. Dre remembered that he woke up feeling strange behind his “right ear,” which quickly developed into “the worst pain” he had ever experienced. Though Dre chose to visit an urgent care center, the physicians declared that Dre’s condition was too “serious” and that he needed to be admitted to the hospital.

The co-founder of Death Row Records wondered at the time if he might have “prevented” the aneurysm by paying more attention to his physical well-being. The Grammy winner eventually discovered that the illness was “hereditary” and cannot be cured.

Although someone going through something so intense could influence their perspective on life, Dre hasn’t changed in a “significant” way afterward. Dre went on to say that before he was in the clear, his health got worse.

Additionally, longtime Dr. Dre friend and collaborator, Eminem, was also affected by the incident, as he discussed in 2022 how the Beats Electronics founder’s hospital hospitalization prompted him and Snoop Dogg to call it quits on their fight.
