Drake Disses Kendrick Lamar Again Using AI-assist On “Taylor Made Freestyle”

Drake, the prominent Canadian rapper, is embroiled in a fierce feud with Kendrick Lamar, another big name in the hip-hop industry. Instead of shying away from the conflict, Drake appears to be relishing the attention and is actively fanning the flames to provoke a reaction from his rivals. Industry insiders had speculated that Drake would release a second diss track aimed at Lamar, similar to his move against Meek Mill in 2015. But nobody anticipated the audacity and technological innovation level showcased in “Taylor Made Freestyle.” Drake wrote three verses for the track, each packed with scathing insults and not-so-subtle jabs at his opponent. However, he chose to rap only one of them in his regular voice. The other two verses were modified using AI technology to mimic the voices of Snoop Dogg and the late 2Pac, who have been Kendrick Lamar’s heroes and inspirations since childhood. This was a clever move on Drake’s part, as he used Lamar’s adoration for 2Pac against him in the diss track.

On April 19, Drake released “Taylor Made Freestyle” via Instagram, beginning with the AI-generated voice of “2Pac” delivering the first verse. The AI voice advised Lamar on defeating Drake, stating that he needed to be more aggressive and seemed nervous about all the publicity. The AI voice then declared, “F**k this Canadian light-skin guy; we need an undebated west coast victory.” This effectively undermined Lamar’s chances of using easy talking points against Drake.

The song’s second verse went to the AI-generated voice of Snoop Dogg, who continued the frustrated tone set by AI 2Pac. Snoop urged Lamar to produce a response track as soon as possible, saying, “Still, you gotta show this f**king owl who’s boss on the west; now’s the time to make a power move because right now, it’s looking like you’re writing out the game plan with how to lose.” The AI Dogfather also quipped, “The world is watching this chess game, but oh, you’re out of moves.”

After using Kendrick Lamar’s heroes against him, Drake rapped the third verse in his voice. He relentlessly mocked the Compton rapper for taking too long to respond after starting the feud in the first place. “Since your tone changed a little, you’re not as enthused,” Drake asserted. “How are you not in the booth? It feels like you’re removed.” Towards the end of the song, the 6 God got even more dismissive, claiming that K. Dot needed “another week” to get himself together. In recent weeks, Kendrick Lamar has been dealing with AI-generated diss tracks, and it’s unclear what is really his and what isn’t. Drake’s use of AI technology to create more friction against Lamar was a strategic move that would be difficult for Lamar to ignore. It remains to be seen how Lamar will respond to Drake’s taunts, but one thing is sure: the feud between these two rappers is far from over.
