Fans Reacts To French Montana Saying Streaming Numbers “Brainwash Artists” Despite Dropping 126-Track Album

French Montana has stirred fan reactions as he has echoed comments regarding music and streams that fans are giving the bombastic “side-eye.”

Here’s the thing: Regarding sales figures, French Montana has had an interesting few weeks. He first revealed his upcoming album, Mac & Cheese 5, back in January. Many fans who might not have otherwise bought copies of the record bought vinyl versions from him for about $5. This was the first of several strategies that were employed in an attempt to increase the album’s overall sales figures. Its several releases on streaming services, however, were the most noteworthy strategy.

Various iterations of Mac & Cheese 5 were released on platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify. The sped-up, slowed-down, instrumental, acapella, and deluxe editions of the record were also shared by him in addition to the standard version. An expansive 126-track album titled “Versions” was also created by compiling all of those versions together. This had some music enthusiasts voicing their displeasure.

After receiving harsh criticism on social media, Montana felt compelled to justify his action; however, he didn’t do a very good job of persuading supporters in the end. Fans are rolling their eyes at him after he made his remarks regarding streaming figures. Montana stated in a recent interview that musicians are being “brainwashed” in an attempt to maximize their streaming figures. He elaborated further, noting that it’s “altering the way musicians create music.”

“It’s taking the love out of music. People are not making the music that they love no more. People are chasing those numbers.”

Given his accused vinyl fraud and how his marketing strategy is being analyzed by other celebrities like Tony Yayo, fans say his words appear even more blatantly hypocritical. There are complaints from fans that the $5 vinyls they ordered back in January never arrived. Shipping confirmations that appeared to be from random addresses located several states away were received by the majority of fans. Reactions continue to follow the story and more updates are expected in the coming weeks.
