Ishaya Bako’s “I Do Not Come To You By Chance” Wins This Year’s AFRIFF Audience Choice Award

“I Do Not Come To You By Chance,” the highly awaited film adaptation of Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani’s best-selling book, debuted at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) with glowing reviews and an Audience Choice Award.

The Entertainment Network (T.E.N.) and Ishaya Bako, the film’s producers, enthralled viewers with its complex narrative and outstanding performances. The movie explores the themes of morality, criminality, and family, following a young guy who gets caught up in cybercrime while trying to provide a stable future for his family.

Paul Nnadiekwe, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Jennifer Eliogu, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, and Beverly Osu are among the film’s intriguing cast members who lend a realistic portrayal and deeper insight to the characters from Nwaubani’s novel.

The film’s producer, Chioma Onyenwe, said she was grateful for the favorable reaction and acknowledged that it was both an honor and a challenge to adapt such a cherished book. Chika Anadu, a writer involved in the film’s creation, agreed, saying that his experience was indeed fulfilling.

“I Do Not Come To You By Chance” is a ‘universal story,’ according to the film director, Ishaya Bako, who unveiled his concept for the film after being pulled to the novel’s relevant themes and massive characters.
