Jay Leno Is Filing For Conservatorship Over Mavis; Says His Wife Suffers “Alzheimer Disease”

Veteran Comic Jay Leno is putting in place a conservatorship in order to oversee his wife’s financial affairs. Court documents recently show that the comedian filed legal documents on Friday to take on the role of conservator over his sick partner’s affairs at Mavis Leno’s estate. Mavis was recently revealed to be ill and  speculated to be suffering from the most prevalent kind of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, which is progressing and causing her memory loss. It is unknown when Jay’s wife was given the diagnosis, but the news has rocked social media and fans of the comedian, especially those who have followed the comic’s relationship story to Mavis.

Insider information revealed the diagnosis of the Alzheimer’s disease that Jay’s wife has. As per sources, the conservatorship is based on the diagnosis, implying that Jay’s wife might not possess the necessary resources to care for herself anymore and will be needing help from now on.

Despite the rather sad revelation, it is not all gloom for the couple as Jay and Mavis were spotted together at a comedy event in Los Angeles in November, which was the most recent time paparazzi saw them in public. Meeting in the 1970s at the renowned Comedy Store in West Hollywood, Jay and Mavis went on to spend decades together after being married in 1980. Leno disclosed in a 2014 interview with the Los Angeles Times that, despite their lengthy relationship, their choice to wed wasn’t sentimental; in fact, he didn’t even propose to Mavis until years later, as at the time, they had recently purchased a home. Rather, Jay wanted Mavis to be covered by his own insurance policy in case something happened to him, so they got married instead.

Mavis is four years Jay’s senior, at 77 years old. Their union didn’t produce any offsprings,  and they both seem very okay with the choice. It was revealed that Mavis fully owned the decision for the couple to forgo having children.
