Kali Uchis’ ‘Orquídeas’ Dominates Hot Latin Songs Chart As ‘Igual Que Un Angel’ Featuring Peso Pluma Stays At Top
Kali Uchis has taken the music industry by storm with her latest song, “Igual Que Un Angel,” featuring Peso Pluma. This track is the lead from her second album, entirely in Spanish, Orquídeas. In addition to the Hot Latin Songs chart, the album has debuted at the top of the charts for Top Latin Albums, Latin Pop Albums, Top Album Sales, and Vinyl Albums. It’s worth noting that all 14 tracks from the album are available on Hot Latin Songs, including “Labios Mordidos” featuring Karol G, which has surged from No. 36 to No. 14 in sales and streams, and “Muñekita” featuring El Alfa and JT, which has re-entered at No. 36.
“Igual Que Un Ángel” has debuted at No. 1 on the Latin streaming songs chart and at No. 10 on the overall streaming songs chart. This is thanks to 13.4 million official US streams recorded over the Jan. 12–18 tracking week, as reported by Luminate. The song also sold 1,000 copies in its first week of release, making it the top Latin digital song. It’s worth noting that out of the eight chart trips, “Igual Que Un Ángel” is the only song from Orquídeas that has made it onto the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 23, which is Uchis’ highest position there.
“Labios Mordidos,” featuring Karol G, has seen a 110% increase in sales and streams, with 4.2 million hits in the United States, and has re-entered the Latin Streaming Songs chart at No. 18. Although the song has moved up from 22 to 19 on Latin Rhythm Airplay, it has received only 2.5 million audience impressions, which is far less than the required amount for inclusion in the Latin Airplay chart as a whole.
Using a combination of airtime, streaming activity, and digital sales, “Igual Que Un Ángel” has earned Uchis her second spot on Hot Latin Songs, and it’s worth noting that her first Peso Pluma collaboration, “Telepatía,” dominated the charts for eight weeks in 2021 and remains a popular song. With her latest album, Kali Uchis has shown that she is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
