Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Megan’s Law’ Line Slammed By Kanka Family
The renowned legislation that protects individuals from sex predators has been cited by Megan Thee Stallion’s fight with Nicki Minaj, and the father of the girl the law is named after is not thrilled about it. Angry over Megan casually mentioning his daughter’s name in “Hiss,” the diss track that started this new feud between her and Nicki, is Richard Kanka, whose daughter, Megan Kanka, was murdered in the ’90s by a sex predator who, at the time, wasn’t legally required to identify himself in his neighbourhood and who provides inspiration for the enactment of Megan’s Law. A little bit of a macabre history lesson: the measure that became Megan’s Law was enacted just one month after Richard’s daughter, who is seven years old, was brutally murdered and raped; Richard still feels the pain of that tragedy every day.
Meg was making a jab at Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, a registered sex offender in New York, with the lyrics in issue. As you can imagine, the topic is quite delicate. Since Meg fired the initial shot, this feud has only worsened. With her diss tune, “Big Foot,” Nicki has retaliated, and both positive and negative responses have been received.
According to him, Megan’s inclusion of his late daughter’s name in the profanity-filled song directed towards Nicki is the height of contempt. Despite her actions, he observes that MTS’s apparent attempt to clarify the law does not alleviate his bitterness. While Kanka claims he hasn’t heard the song with his own two ears yet, he has read the lyrics, and it’s still off-limits for him. He tells us that using his daughter’s name in such a gory and insulting manner was immensely hurtful to the suffering his daughter and family felt.
