Ondo State Governor Akeredolu Disbands Deputy’s Media Team Amidst Rumors Of Rift

Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa Refutes Claims Of Disloyalty

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has disbanded the media team of Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. This decision comes shortly after Akeredolu’s return to Nigeria following a three-month medical leave in Germany. During his absence, Aiyedatiwa had assumed the role of acting governor.

The atmosphere in the state’s political corridors has been rife with speculations of a cold war brewing between Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa. However, the deputy governor has consistently denied any such rift. Addressing the media, Olabode Richard Olatunde, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, announced that all media aides appointed by the governor and subsequently assigned to the deputy governor’s office have been relieved of their duties. The list of affected aides includes Kenneth Odusola, the Press Secretary to the Governor; Oladipupo Okunniga, Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media; and Samson Abayomi Adefolalu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Photography.

These aides have been instructed to return all government properties in their possession to the Acting Permanent Secretary of the deputy governor’s office. Additionally, the press crew attached to the deputy governor’s office has been disbanded, with members directed to report back to their respective ministries and stations. The Ministry of Information and Orientation has been tasked with ensuring adequate media coverage for the deputy governor’s activities moving forward.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed the rumors surrounding his relationship with Governor Akeredolu. Through a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, Aiyedatiwa labeled the rumors as a continuation of a blackmail campaign initiated by certain individuals a few months ago. He emphasized that these false stories were being propagated by individuals threatened by his growing profile, his strong relationship with the governor, and the goodwill he enjoys among the people of Ondo State.

The political landscape of Ondo State remains charged as stakeholders and observers keenly watch the unfolding dynamics between the state’s top leaders. The recent events have added another layer of intrigue to the state’s political narrative, with many awaiting further developments.
