Shatta Wale Speaks On Nigerian Artistes Domination Of Afrobeats; Congratulates Asake For O2 Show, Says “He’s Bigger Than All Ghanaian Artists”
Nigerian artists continue to be at the forefront of the movement as Afrobeat receives attention and some degree of prominence on the international stage, much to the envy of their counterparts in other African countries.
Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian singer, has spoken candidly about how Asake is now more popular than all other musicians who represent Ghanaian music. His remarks are sarcastic yet realistic. In a recent space hosted on X, formerly Twitter, award-winning Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale addressed the direct comparison brought up by the space host between Ghanaian artists and the Nigerian sensation Asake.
Shatta said that the YBNL signee should not be compared to Ghanaian artists, including himself, because he is “bigger” than all of the Gold Coast artists. Even though he is considered Ghana’s richest artist, his continued success cannot be compared to Asake from Nigeria.
This occurred shortly after Shatta used his social media account to congratulate Asake on his successful O2 Arena performance and to recognize the progress made by Nigerian musicians and artists. He said,
“Nigerians are making Ghana music look like feeding bottles compared to Hennessey bottles. Congrats to Asake meeenn!!! You guys deh run tooo fast …F^ck! PS: Some Ghana men say how do they do it .. Me: When you stop judging people here like you are angels, I think we can get the formula. Naija is winning BIG TIME !!! My people.”
