SZA Takes Home “Best International Artist” Prize At The BRIT Awards

SZA fans are all over the moon as their fave won “Best International Artist” at the BRIT Awards, defeating a strong field of competitors. The St. Louis vocalist won the prize in a category that included Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Olivia Rodrigo. Cyrus’s song “Flowers” won “International Song of the Year.” It should be mentioned, though, that Swift was not nominated in this category. Swift had previously defeated SZA to win “Album of the Year” at the Grammys.

In terms of award recognition, SZA has had a very successful year thus far. She shared the 2024 Grammy for best pop dup/group performance with Phoebe Bridgers via their song “Ghost in the Machine.” The two most famously defeated Swift, who was nominated for her song “Karma,” which featured Ice Spice, to win the award. The Billboard Hot 100 peaked “Ghost in the Machine” at number 40.

For upcoming rapper Central Cee, it was a difficult evening. Cee had four nominations going into the night, which was the second most, but he didn’t win any prizes. However, in the previous eighteen months, the rapper has become somewhat of a household name. This has been heralded by his recent work with Drake and fans took to the comments to share that the star should have won at least one. Others chimed that it wasn’t too late and expressed enthusiasm for the rapper’s blossoming career.
