Toyin Abraham Discusses Her Decision To Cast Emeka Ike In Her Latest Film “Malaika”

The Nigerian actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has disclosed why she chose to work with veteran actor and senior colleague, Emeka Ike, for her recent blockbuster film, “Malaika,” after over 13 years away from the screen.

This was revealed by Toyin during an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown and the women of the TVC show, Your View, which aired on Thursday. The single mother revealed that she chose to bring the seasoned actor back to the big screen because she felt he deserved a second chance following a marriage scandal that had adversely impacted his career.

Emma, Emeka Ike’s ex-wife, had accused him of assault and barred him from seeing his children. The scandals surrounding his first marriage caused Emeka Ike to take a protracted hiatus from the entertainment business, which was bad for his career. He disclosed that he fell into desperation as a result of the turbulence in his personal life, especially the marital problems.

After his wife accused him of assault, he went through an internal battle that made him want to hide from the public and felt ashamed of his marriage’s conditions.

In addition to Emeka Ike, Odunlade Adekola, Carter Efe, Uzo Arukwe, Muyiwa Ademola, Ibrahim Chatta, Abike Shugaa, Taiwo Ajai Lycett, and Ugandan performer Anne Kansiime are among the other stars of “Malaika.”
