Tyler The Creator Loves Doja Cat’s Coachella Performance

In a recent interview, Tyler, The Creator, opened up about his feelings of jealousy towards Doja Cat’s Coachella performance. He expressed that he was envious of the backup dancers surrounding her and the variety of wigs she wore during her set. This past weekend, Tyler retook the stage at Coachella and joked that the experience made him nostalgic for his Igor show.

“I was with Doja Cat yesterday,”

“And I told her,’I’m jealous that you have backup dancers. N****. Just a bunch of sweaty n****s onstage with you, helping you look sweaty. F*ck. She got the wigs and sh*t. I need to do the ‘Igor’ sh*t one more time with the wig and sh*t.”

During an interview with Uproxx, Parker Genoway, the creative director and designer for Silent House, who was responsible for working on Doja’s set, shared insights about creating it. Genoway delved into the details of how the concept for the set was brainstormed, the challenges they faced during the design phase, and the outcome. His contribution to the project was invaluable, and his expertise played a critical role in bringing Doja’s vision to life on stage.

“She was always like, ‘I want a dinosaur. I really want a dinosaur,’”

“And so when we started thinking about, ‘Let us work backwards. What kind of world could this be? Is this prehistoric, or is this post-apocalyptic? Has society crumbled?’… I think when I like to create a world, I want layers and I want versatility, and I want to be able to deliver a show that evolves and does not just stay the same the whole time.”

Tyler’s performance during his set included a rendition of “She,” a collaborative single he released with Frank Ocean in 2011. As the song progressed, fans began to anticipate Ocean joining Tyler on stage for a surprise performance. However, Tyler quickly intervened to manage the audience’s expectations and clarify that Ocean would not appear on stage. Despite the disappointment, the crowd still highly praised Tyler’s performance.
