Usher Celebrates 20 Years Of His Iconic “Confessions” Album Debut

In honour of the 20th anniversary of his iconic album, Confessions, Usher took to Instagram last Saturday to celebrate the milestone. The album, which was released in 2004, features some of the singer’s most popular tracks to date, including “Burn,” “Caught Up,” “Confessions II,” and “Yeah!”. Confessions was an instant success upon its release, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and remaining on the chart for an impressive 111 weeks. It has also been certified 14x platinum.

Usher’s performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year was a momentous occasion for fans of the album. He performed many of its hits, including “Yeah!” “Caught Up” and “Burn” as part of a medley that also featured newer songs like “Climax” and “OMG.” The performance was widely praised, with many people commenting on how well Usher had aged and how impressive his dance moves were.

Despite Confessions’ popularity, it was snubbed for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards in 2005. Usher has since admitted that this still upsets him, and it’s not hard to see why. The award went instead to Ray Charles’ final studio album, Genius Loves Company. Nevertheless, Confessions remains a beloved album to this day, and its impact on Usher’s career and the music industry as a whole cannot be understated.

He captioned the post,

“20 years ago today, we dropped the iconic ‘Confessions’ album, which is now 14x Platinum. Making it the highest RIAA certified album by a male soloist released this century,” “The love and support from my Day 1s has been nothing short of incredible. Thank you for rocking with me through every lyric, every beat, and every confession. Thank you to each and every important collaborator that was apart of this very special project that helped mold and shape my career as an artist. Without you, Confessions wouldn’t be the masterpiece it is. Here’s to the memories, the vibes, and the timeless music that continues to move us. Let’s keep making history!!”
