“A Tribe Called Judah” By Funke Akindele Breaks Box Office Records By Grossing N1 Billion

With her most recent movie, “A Tribe Called Judah,” Funke Akindele has once again made history. In just three weeks, the film made a staggering one billion Naira at the Nigerian box office, making it the fastest Nollywood production to do so.

With profits still being tallied, it has also become the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, and it has elevated Funke Akindele to the status of highest-grossing Nollywood director ever.

“A Tribe Called Judah” is a touching and humorous film that was released in December 2023. It depicts the tale of a single mother and her five sons who, after experiencing financial difficulties, decide to rob a mall. But when they come across more robbers already there, their intentions take an unexpected turn.

Funke Akindele, Timini Egbuson, Jide Kene Achufusi, Ozee Usman, Tobi Makinde, Olumide Oworu, Nse Ikpe Etim, Juliana Olayode, Uzor Arukwe, Fathia Balogun, Yvonne Jegede, and numerous other actors feature in the movie.

The film, which was co-produced by Funke Akindele and herself, was acclaimed for its amusing touches, compelling tale, and excellent performances. Its themes of family, love, and resiliency have struck a deep chord with viewers across the country. “A Tribe Called Judah” is dedicated to Funke’s late mother.
